Today's post is more of a recipe reminder. Morning breakfast, a warm bowl of porridge/oatmeal!
Owning a rice cooker was not a high priority purchase for us. In fact we deliberately stayed away from buying one. Rationale was not to get into the habit of eating rice everyday. Zojirushi fuzzy logic was an answer to all our questions. Firstly, fuzzy logic is by no means 'fuzzy', on the contrary it refers to built in intelligence that the machine has which detects when the grain is cooked.
So here we are experimenting cooking porridge in our rice cooker. I look forward to experimenting with kamut berries, quinoa, barley and may be lentils too as time goes on.
Porridge - Steel cut oats
1 cup steel cut oats
2.5 cups water
Porridge setting
When the setting goes to 'Keep Warm'
Add 1 cup of 2% milk and mix gently
Serve after 15 minutes with whichever topping you like.
Our favourites are:
- Chia seeds
- Bananas
- Walnuts
- Almonds
- Honey
Sit back and enjoy!
